Tracy Kenpo: Set : Book Set (Panther Set)

1. SALUTATION & SECTION 1

  1. Start off with traditional salutation, then when back in a neutral stance, right hand comes out palm up then fan block up, turn hand over so palm is down then do a downward fan block.
  2. Bring right hand out to side and circle back under arm followed by 4 push blocks, and then repeat everything on your left side.
  3. Followed by a right punch, then left punch roll over Backfist, point toes out to the outside (3:00 & 9:00) then using heels go into a square horse stance.

SECTION 2

  1. Left hand on top of right palm up at waist level, bring the hands up and over head as you rotate hands over and then hands will cross keeping left hand on top as you perform a clearing action bringing them down to waist and into chamber.
  2. Bring hands up to shoulders palm out.
  3. 3 push blocks then on 3rd motion hand turns into a Tiger Claw then bring up to head then down to waist, cross hands in front left on top and bring them back up to shoulder in push block position.
  4. Left push block, cross hands right on top, right push block cross hands left on top, left push block.
  5. Adjust left foot and go into a Chinese “L” block towards 9:00 going into hard bow.
  6. Then step right to 9:00 and do a Chinese “L” Block into hard bow then step left to 9:00 and do a Chinese “L” block into hard bow.
  7. Adjust right foot back and pivot towards 3:00 going into a Chinese “L” Block then step left to 3:00 and go into a Chinese “L” block then Right again.
  8. Step forward to face 12:00 into Square Horse stance as you throw a right punch.

SECTION 3

  1. Step left to 12:00 into Side Horse stance; left Vertical Punch, right foot to 3:00 into Square Horse stance followed by a right punch.
  2. Step left to 12:00 into a Side Horse Stance, Left Vertical Punch.
  3. Step back left to 9:00 into Square Horse Stance, right reverse Punch.
  4. Then step back right to 6:00 with a Left Vertical Punch, step back left to 6:00 right reverse punch into Square Horse Stance.

SECTION 4

  1. Step right to 12:00 into Side Horse stance along with a Left heel palm right hammerfist bring both strikes to the center of your body in a circular motion, then step left to 9:00 into Square horse stance right push hand block then step right to 12:00 into square horse stance followed by a left heel palm right hammerfist bringing both strikes to the center of your body in a circular motion.
  2. Step back right into Square Horse stance with a left push block then step back to 6:00 into a Side Horse Stance along with a left heel palm right hammerfist bringing both strikes to the center of your body in a circular motion.
  3. Step back to right 3:00 into square horse stance followed by a left push block.

SECTION 5

  1. Left foot forward to 12:00 followed by a left eye rake then right eye rake palms up going right into a rolling upwards block starting with right and then left, then a right inverted punch.
  2. Step forward right along with a right upward left inverted punch.
  3. Step left to 12:00 left upward right inverted punch.
  4. Then step back left along with a left smoother block then step back right to 6:00 right smoother block, then back left with a left smoother block.
  5. Step right to 3:00 into square horse stance followed by a right hammerfist left softbow then a left hammerfist right softbow.
  6. Step forward right and go into Turning the Handle, right foot to 2:30 left hard bow, left hook block, right punch then left punch and repeat this pattern 4 more times.
  7. On the last punch step back left to 9:00 into square horse stance.

SECTION 6

  1. Go into Teasing the Tiger first to 3:00 then to 9:00 then step right to 2:30 butterfly strike then left to 10:30 with a butterfly strike.
  2. Square off facing to 2:30, followed by a left claw then a right claw then left claw as you go into a Cat Stance.
  3. Step right to 12:00 as you do a forearm smash then snapping the Rod.
  4. Pivot to face 12:00, Right Cat Stance then a left punch simultaneously throw a right front snap kick.
  5. Step forward left along with a right punch.

SECTION 7

  1. Step to 2:30 with a right foot, right upwards block followed by a left vertical punch.
  2. Left foot steps to 10:30 then a left upwards block and a right vertical punch.
  3. Dancer rights to 7:30, then a right upwards block and a leftvertical punch.
  4. Left foot to 4:30 left upward blocks right vertical punch.
  5. Left foot crosses behind right to 6:00 double Backfist then pivot to face 9:00 left upwards block right hammerfist.

SECTION 8 & CLOSE

  1. Pivot forward, right upwards block left vertical punch then left foot forward with a left upwards block and a right vertical punch.
  2. Right foot forward with a right upwards block and a left vertical punch.
  3. Right hook block then left followed by a right punch as you step back with right food then back left with a left punch then step back right with a right punch.
  4. Draw to a right Cat Stance facing 3:00 with a right Vertical Outward block step forward left right swinging Backfist left punch.
  5. Step right and repeat.
  6. Adjust foot back facing 9:00 Chinese Swings.
  7. Step right Chinese Swings then step left Chinese Swings go into a Square Horse stance followed by Teasing the Tiger to 3:00 then to 9:00.
  8. Draw to a left Cat Stance Teasing the Tiger the go into closing Salutation.

Tracy Kenpo: Set : Long Set 3

1. SALUTATION

Start with salutation by placing right foot out, left hand makes a fist right hand makes a shield, the step out left and present hands, roll hands over step back left then right as you go back to neutral stance.

2. 12:00 TWO-HEADED SERPENT / REVERSING GRASP AB

Step in with right foot to 12:00 Two-headed Serpent immediately following the right punch go into Reversing Grasp A then B, step back to center then step out left to 12:00 and repeat on the week side.

3. CIRCLING ELBOWS / REACHING FOR THE MOON

Shuffle to 3:00 strike down with both hands double claw to face, Circling Elbows followed by Reaching for the Moon. Go back to horse shuffle to 9:00 as you strike down with both hands, double claw to face, Circling Elbows then Reaching for the Moon weak side.

4. FLASHING DAGGERS

Cross block high then low, double clear into chamber. Step back to right 6:00. Flashing Daggers power side, then step back left to 6:00, Flashing Daggers weak side.

5. BENDING THE LIMB

Step back left as you do Bending the Limb power side, then step back right as you do Bending the Limb weak side.

6. WRAP AROUNDS

Step to square horse with your left followed by Wrap Arounds ABC

7. 10:30 / 2:30 CROSSING TALON A

Step right to 10:30 as you go into Crossing Talon A, come back to square horse both hands in chamber. Step left to 2:30 as you go into Crossing Talon A, come back to square horse both hands in chamber.

8. 7:30 / 4:30 CROUCHING FALCON

Swing your right leg counter clockwise to 7:30 as you go into Crouching Falcon weak side. Swing back to square horse with both hands in chamber. Swing your left leg clockwise to 4:30 as you do Crouching Falcon weak side. Swing your leg back to square horse both hands in chambers.

9. 10:30 / 2:30 DARTING SERPENT

Step right to 10:30 as you go into Darting Serpent A and B, go back to square with both hands in chamber. Step left to 2:30 as you go into Darting Serpent weak side; go back to square horse with both hands in chamber.

10. 9:00 AND 3:00 SILK WIND

From last position go directly into Silk Wind power side, then go into Silk Wind weak side to go back to original position.

11. HEEL HOOK

Put your hands in the air as if you are in a full nelson then go into Heel hook power side, then weak side without changing position.

12. 12:00 SPREADING THE LEAVES

With the hands back in the air step forward left and go into spreading the leaves, then step forward right and go into spreading the leaves weak side.

13. 12:00 CROSSING THE LOCKS

Step forward left as you go into Crossing the Locks, then step forward right and go into Crossing the Lock weak side.

14. CLOSE

Step forward left as you do teasing the tiger to 3:00, go into the closing salutation from there.

Ed Parker American Kenpo: Sets : Staff Set 1

Opening

  1. Raise the staff to shoulder height, kneel and place the staff on the ground.
  2. Return to an attention stance.
  3. Do the full Kenpo salutation, catching the staff with your left big toe on the second beat, and raising it up on the right instep on the fourth beat. Kick flip it up so it lands on top of your forearms as you go through the salutation.
  4. Return to an attention stance, with the staff held at waist level.

Section 1: (Front: either a grab of your staff or a staff attack)

  1. From your attention stance, block horizontally high.
  2. Block horizontally low.
  3. Block vertically to the left (right hand high).
  4. Block vertically to the right (left hand high).

Section 2: (Front: Punch)

  1. Step back with your right foot into a left neutral bow as you swing the staff over and under on the right side.
  2. As you move through back to an attention stance, twirl the staff through a vertical position (right hand high), and step back with the left foot into a right neutral bow, swing the staff over and under on the left side.

Section 3: (Against a Poking Staff)

  1. Bring the left foot up to the right as you twirl the staff (left hand down to the left first) to block to the poking staff through to a vertical position (left hand high).
  2. Without hesitation, step your right foot to 9 o’clock into a right front crossover as you twirl the staff horizontally at shoulder height to strike the right side of your attacker’s neck with your right hand forward and your left hand in your right armpit.
  3. Unwind counterclockwise as you step your right foot to 4:30 into a left neutral bow, twirling into a horizontal strike to the left side of your attacker’s neck with your right hand in your left armpit.
  4. Bring the right foot up to the left as you double twirl (left hand down to the right first) to block the poking staff through to a vertical position (right hand high).
  5. Without hesitation, step your left foot to 3 o’clock into a left front crossover as you twirl the staff horizontally at shoulder height to strike the left side of your attacker’s neck with your left hand forward and your right hand in your left armpit.
  6. Unwind clockwise as you step with your left foot to 7:30 into a right neutral bow, twirling into a horizontal strike to the right side of your attacker’s neck with your left hand in your right armpit.

Section 4: (Against a poking staff, a rear bear hug, or to clear a circle of attackers)

  1. Bring the left foot up to the right as you double twirl (right hand down to the left first) the staff through to a vertical position on your left side (left hand high), and without hesitation, step your right foot back to 4:30 into a left reverse bow as you twirl the staff into an overhead block (with the fingers back).
  2. Shift into a left forward bow as you put the staff horizontally behind your neck, and then drop into a left wide kneel as you swing the staff counter clockwise in the right hand through three revolutions (with the third circle being low) to clear away attackers. During the third swing, swing the right foot counterclockwise in a full circle to 4:30 into a left neutral bow facing 12:00. The staff is on your right, with your left hand high.
  3. Bring the right foot up to the left as you twirl (left hand down to the right first) the staff through to a vertical position on your right side (right hand high), and without pause step your left foot back to 7:30 into a right reverse bow as you twirl the staff into an overhead block (with the fingers back).
  4. Shift into a right forward bow as you put the staff horizontally behind your neck, and then drop into a right wide kneel as you swing the staff clockwise in the left hand through three revolutions (with the third being low). During the third swing, swing the left foot clockwise in a full circle to 7:30 into a right neutral bow to 12:00. The staff is on your left with your right hand high.

Section 5: (Side Staff Swing)

  1. As you step with the left to 12 o’clock into an attention stance, twirl (right hand down to the left side first) the staff to your left side (with the right hand high).
  2. Execute a right round to your attacker’s mid-section and plant to 12 o’clock into a right neutral bow.
  3. Execute a left descending strike, followed by a right upward underhand strike.
  4. As you step your left foot to 1:30 into a left rear crossover, slide the staff behind your head and poke into your attacker’s throat and then bring the stick overhead in front of your chest.
  5. Pivot clockwise, and shift your right foot to 6 o’clock into a right neutral bow, twirl (left hand down to the right side first) the staff to your right side (with the left hand high).
  6. Execute a left round kick to your attacker’s midsection and plant to 6 o’clock into a left forward bow.
  7. Execute a right descending strike, followed by a left upward underhand strike.
  8. As you step your right foot to 5:30 into a right rear crossover, slide the staff behind your head to poke into your attacker’s throat and then bring the stick overhead in front of your chest.

Section 6: (Front Kick)

  1. Pivot clockwise into a left forward bow facing 12 o’clock as you twirl your right hand down to your left and then to your right, ending with the staff horizontal at waist level.
  2. Swing your left hand low; as the right hand swings low, step your right foot to 12 o’clock.
  3. Pivot counterclockwise 180 degrees into a left neutral bow facing 6 o’clock as your left hand stabs or strikes to the rear on your left side.
  4. Bring your right foot up to your left foot as you twirl your right hand down to your left. As you twirl to the right, step your left foot to 12 o’clock into a right neutral bow facing 6 o’clock ending with the staff horizontal (at waist level).
  5. As your right hand swings low, step your left foot to 6 o’clock as your left hand swings low.
  6. Pivot clockwise into a right neutral bow facing 12 o’clock as your right hand stabs or strikes to the rear on your right side.

Section 7: (Punch)

  1. Pivot counterclockwise, as you execute a right crescent kick to 12 o’clock. Land and execute a right crescent kick. Land in a right front crossover.
  2. Twist counterclockwise in place to face 6 o’clock, as you execute a left crescent kick to 6 o’clock. Land and execute a left crescent kick to 6 o’clock. Land in a left front crossover.

Section 8: (Against a Kick or a Punch)

  1. Step your right foot back to 12 o’clock into a left neutral bow facing 6 o’clock as you poke to 6 o’clock.
  2. Execute a right front kick to 6 o’clock with a rear poke to 12 o’clock, on your right side.
  3. Plant back to 12 o’clock into a left neutral bow, and then strike over and under on your right side.
  4. Shift your right foot slightly to 3 o’clock as you pivot clockwise into a right neutral bow facing 12 o’clock with a high right block. Poke to 12 o’clock.
  5. Execute a left front kick to 12 o’clock with a rear poke to 6 o’clock on your left side.
  6. Plant back to 6 o’clock into a right neutral bow, and strike over and under on your left side.

Section 9: (Punch)

  1. As the left foot circles to 9 o’clock around your attacker’s leg, into a horse stance facing 12 o’clock, execute a left inward strike to take your attacker down.
  2. Execute a right horizontal strike to your attacker as he falls, and then a left horizontal strike Step your right foot to 6 o’clock into a left neutral bow to 12 o’clock as you execute a right downward strike followed by a left poke.
  3. As the right foot circles to 3 o’clock around your attacker’s leg, into a horse stance facing 12:00, execute a right inward strike to take your attacker down.
  4. Do a left horizontal strike to your attacker as he falls, and then a right horizontal strike. Step your left foot to 6 o’clock, into a right neutral bow facing 12 o’clock, and do a left downward strike followed by a right poke.

Section 10: (Overhead Club from the Right Side)

  1. Pivot clockwise into a right front twist stance to 3 o’clock as you execute left, right, and left overhead downward blocks on your right side. (On the second swing, twirl on your right. On the third strike, execute a double stomp.)
  2. Pivot counterclockwise into a left front twist stance to 9 o’clock as you execute a right, left, and right overhead downward blocks on your left side. (On the second swing, twirl on your right. On the third strike, execute a double stomp.)
  3. Pivot back into a horse stance facing 12 o’clock.
  4. Step up to an attention stance.

Closing

  1. Drop the weapon into your arms, do the basic Kenpo salutation, flip the weapon into the air and grab it in both hands, and then twirl the staff to your right side.
